Lazing around at the beach seems to be the popular choice for Kiwis this summer.
But according to a new survey the 'flop and drop' holiday is out, adventure is in, and we're planning to explore and learn in the coming year.
Travel agents say hot destinations this year include Vietnam, the Philippines and South America.
But Australia is still on top.
Last year Kiwis made 2.39 million overseas trips, almost half of them to our neighbour across the ditch.
