A masked man has robbed a dairy with knife in Whakatane at approximately 2:40pm on Monday afternoon.
The man was seen riding a bicycle down Olympic Drive before going into Allendale Suprette where he demanded money from the owner and his wife.
The man is described as being Maori, in his mid-20s, wearing and blue hoodie and black pants. A black towel was covering his face.
After robbing the store the man rode his bike down the walkway along Olympic Drive towards the lake.
