A man will appear in court following a serious assault in Lower Hutt which left a man with a fractured skull and lacerations to the head.
Police have charged a 43-year-old Hutt Valley man with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm relating to the attack in Moera around 7:20pm on Tuesday.
The victim is in ICU at Wellington Hospital in critical condition.
A scene examination at the address in Randwick Rd is still underway.
The man will appear in the Hutt Valley District Court later on Wednesday.
