A 43-year-old man has died after being shot near Wairoa on Wednesday morning.
Police, emergency services and the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter were sent to the rural property in Mohaka around 11am after reports someone had been shot.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested a 62-year-old man at the property. The pair are believed to have known each other.
No one else is believed to have been involved in the incident.
