A local Wellington rubbish collector has been wearing a monkey mask to delight the kids at a day care centre.
Monkey Man has been performing the weekly ritual for the kids for months.
"They love it, it's something really special for them and it's something that's from our community," says Kidicorp Centre manager Kerri Davies.
The Monkey Man says the day care centre has been very good to him and he wanted to give the kids a laugh.
"I just had this mask lying around at home and decided one day I'd take it on the truck," he says. "I saw random kids, thought I'd give them a laugh, because most children like waving out to the truck."
He has even inspired projects at the centre.
"It's neat to see how something simple has made an impact on our children here," says Ms Davies.
