There have been two serious motorbike accidents overnight, one fatal.
On Roto O Rangi Rd, between Te Awamutu and Cambridge, a motorcyclist died after crashing into the side of a bridge.
The crash occurred at about 5pm on Saturday.
In the other incident, a motorcyclist crashed into a bank on Dyers Pass Rd in Christchurch at about 12:30am on Sunday morning.
He is now stable, but was initially rushed to Christchurch Hospital in a critical condition.
The serious crash unit is investigating both incidents.
