The mystery of dead cows washing up on Dunedin beaches appears to have been solved.
Up to three sightings of cow carcasses were reported - the latest on St Clair beach being removed by a Dunedin City Council contractor on Saturday.
Police say the owner of the cows contacted the Regional Council on Monday morning, and they're not taking any further action.
