Parents encouraging kids to commit crimes -- social worker

A youth education provider says there's more to be worried about than siblings encouraging younger brothers and sisters to commit crimes.

Newshub has revealed a growing number of frontline Auckland police becoming worried with the number of children as young as 11 committing crimes.

Tim Tipene from Warrior Kids says even adults are contributing to the problem.

"I know of incidents out here in west Auckland where families have been sending children in to shops to get behind the counter and take wallets or whatever they can find, and that's been the parents."

Mr Tipene is calling for specific health units in schools to combat the problem.
