Sir Paul's farewell a fitting tribute

Politicians, television presenters and a famous All Black paid their respects to Sir Paul Holmes today.

Before the service began there was drama. Sam Bracanov, a well known anti-royalist, was arrested when he tried to hand out anti-royal leaflets to mourners

Not that Sir Paul would have minded - he loved drama.

Inside the Holy Trinity Cathedral, his coffin was adorned with his favourite white orchids and roses while a New Zealand flag was draped underneath.

Photos of Sir Paul over the years were shown - as a young boy away from the limelight along with lots of photos of him just being a dad. But it was on the public stage where he was at his ambitious best.

He would have loved the haka from students at his former Karamu High School and as he was lead away he would have been pleased he could still stop the traffic.
