Six hurt after van rolls outside golf club

Two people are in a critical condition after the van they were travelling in rolled on Kakaramea Rd near Pirongia, southwest of Hamilton.

Police were called to the scene just outside the Pirongia Golf Club at about 3:42am on Tuesday morning.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

There were six people in the van - three adults and three children. The two critical are an adult and child. The others suffered moderate injuries. 

They were travelling from Auckland.

The fire service sent three engines, and are assisting with traffic control.

The serious crash unit wasn't initially called to investigate, but now is.

The road has been reopened.
