Steffan Browning: Signing Ebola petition was 'unwise'

Green Party MP Steffan Browning has come up with an unusual take on how to cure Ebola with natural, alternative medicine.

Mr Browning signed a petition two days ago calling for homeopathy to be used in the fight against the deadly disease.

"It was pretty late at night," he says. "I signed it because I'm not opposed to homeopathy."

The petition is addressed to many people, including the Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), saying:

"Homeopathic remedies are quick to produce in large quantities, inexpensive, easily distributed, and have an excellent safety profile.

"Please end the suffering of those in the Ebola crisis by using the tried and proven homeopathic approach."

Nearly 5000 people have signed it.

Mr Browning has since removed his name, saying it was "unwise".

However, he still hopes WHO will consider homeopathic remedies in the fight against Ebola.

"I have used homeopathy," he says. "I've seen it apparently effective on one of my children."

Green Party co-leader Russel Norman says he "didn't agree" with Mr Browning signing the petition.
