Urewera activist Tame Iti says he will be appealing his conviction on firearms charges over alleged military camps to the Supreme Court.
He made the announcement on his Twitter account this morning.

Iti is currently in Waikeria Prison – he relays tweets to his whanau by phone.
Iti, Te Rangi-kaiwhiria Kemara, Urs Signer and Emily Bailey last month lost a Court of Appeal fight to have their convictions and sentences overturned, after being found guilty of firearms charges relating to what prosecutors alleged were military-style training camps.
Iti's son Wairere said at the time they may consider going to the Supreme Court.
"We haven't discounted the potential of going to the Supreme Court, but obviously there's a cost – not only with time, but money, and Dad's parole is coming up shortly," said the younger Iti.
"We're just really weighing up our options at this stage, to see which is the best way to go."
In a statement Iti said the court decision really only affects his body, and not mind or thinking, and that he continues to use his time in prison constructively.
