Gisborne police had to put out a car fire after it was deliberately lit early on Sunday morning.
They've arrested an 18-year-old for the arson after the car was set alight on Wainui Rd around 4:15am.
A police dog unit managed to track the man down at a nearby address.
He's scheduled to appear in the Gisborne District Court on July 20.
