A one-year-old toddler has been found dead in a pond this evening in Kumeu, Waitemata.
Police say they were at the scene at 7:48pm after the child was reported missing, before a family member found the toddler in a nearby pond.
Attempts to resuscitate the toddler were unsuccessful.
Waitemata police say there is nothing to suggest the incident was suspicious and the death is being treated as a "tragic accident".
The matter will be referred to the Coroner.
