Police have released the names of an elderly couple who were found dead in their Paekakariki home this morning.

They are 71-year-old Adrian Webster and his wife, 76-year-old Marei Webster.

Although police do not think the death is suspicious, they say they will continue to investigate it like it is a murder and are not ruling anyone out in relation to the incident.

Mr Webster was the chairperson of the Paekakariki Community Board and has been since 2004. He was diagnosed with cancer last year.

Officer in charge of the Kapiti Mana CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, says his thoughts are with the family who are “very strong and very tight and are all supporting each other at tis time”.

"A thorough scene examination is continuing this afternoon and the bodies are likely to be removed from the scene later this afternoon for post-mortems to be carried out over the weekend,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam said.

A cordon is still in place around the coastal property on Ames Street.
