A motorcyclist has died and a woman is in critical condition after a crash in Christchurch this afternoon.
An ambulance and four rapid response vehicles attended the incident which happened on Pound Rd around 12:50pm.
A black Mercedes and motorcycle collided at the intersection of Pound Rd and Ryans Rd. The motorcyclist died at scene and the woman was taken to Christchurch Hospital.
Pound Rd is currently closed from Yaldhurst Rd to Savills Rd as a result of the crash, as well as Ryans Rd from Guys Rd to Grays Rd.
There was a commercial truck near the intersection at the time that may not be aware the accident occurred behind them, police say. They would like to hear from that truck driver or anyone that may have witnessed the accident.
