NZ First leader Winston Peters has again failed to back his estranged MP Brendan Horan who is facing allegations over money missing from his late mother’s bank account.

Mr Peters was asked numerous times at Parliament if he had confidence in Mr Horan but he repeatedly said he wouldn’t give judgement until he has seen all the facts.

“I know what you are trying to do, pitch it up for TV3 tonight but it won’t work,” he says. “I haven’t got the information. So unless I go out and beg, borrow and steal it, I’ll put all my resources into finding it, which I did.

“He’s not on ‘shore leave’ or ‘beach leave’ or on ‘gardening leave’, he’s getting on with his job – that’s his number one priority,” the leader says.

The Tauranga-based MP is still managing to do all of his constituency work and correspondence, Mr Peters says.

“I said to him, ‘Stay back in Tauranga and get all the facts that you can and make them available to me.' That is where things stand."
