Video: Car smashes into shop window

A car has crashed into the front of a grocery store in Grey Lynn.

The accident happened at around 9pm on Friday night, when a car was rear-ended as the driver attempted to park.

The car was propelled into the front of Harvest Wholefoods, shattering the front window.

Police and ambulance services attended the scene and say there were no injuries.

"Clearly the guy got a bit of a fright when he got rear-ended and he planted his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake, which meant he hit the shop pretty hard," said one man who witnessed the accident from across the road.

Doreen Tan, from neighbouring fish and chip shop Pomme Frites, says she heard a loud crash and went to see what had happened. She saw the car had crashed into the vegetable shop and saw a woman running across the road to check on the driver.

Another witness says the driver appeared shaken but not seriously injured.
