A truck crash that caused a major cream spill on the Takaka Hill near Golden Bay has seen the nearby river run white with milk.
Police yesterday closed SH60 on the Takaka Hill from around 1pm until 6pm after a tanker carrying cream crashed.
Contractors worked to clean up the large cream spill from the tanker, which caused a major traffic backlog.
The crash also saw a large run-off of cream flow into the nearby Riwaka River, turning the usually clear water white.
