It’s the race that stops a nation, and it’s sure to stop work in your office you have a 2012 Melbourne Cup Sweepstake going.
There’s plenty of interest across the Tasman in the race at Flemington, and come 5pm (NZT), New Zealand too will take a breather to watch 24 horses fly over 3200 metres.
Always held on the first Tuesday in November, the Cup has become an institution. Last year, Dunaden took the honours, in 2010 it was Americain, and both horses lining up again tomorrow.
But the field is a wee ripper and the winner could come from anywhere.
