All Blacks and Chiefs first-five Aaron Cruden could be heading to France, according to reports.

French magazine Midi-Olympiqu claims Top14 side Montpellier has offered Cruden a NZ$1.2 million per season contract.

Cruden is reportedly being eyed as a replacement for South African Demetri Catakillis when New Zealand coach Vern Cotter takes over the coaching duties next season.

Cotter will be finishing his current role as Scotland head coach at the end of the 2017 Six Nations.

Cruden began 2016 as the first choice first-five, but due to injury, it appears he has lost his place to Beauden Barrett.

Cruden is contracted to New Zealand Rugby through to the end of 2017.
