All Blacks Sam Whitelock and Charlie Ngatai are set to be ruled out of Saturday's first Test against Wales due to injury.

Whitelock hasn't trained with the side all week as his hamstring continues to trouble him, while Ngatai is still feeling the effects of his concussion suffered during the Chiefs game against the Highlanders back in early May, the centre yet to join the squad.

Luke Romano looks to be the likely replacement at lock, while either George Moala or Seta Tamanivalu should take the vacant bench spot.

Kerr-Barlow, already ruled out, is progressing well but won't be involved this weekend.
