Jordie Barrett scored 15 points as the New Zealand under-20 rugby side downed their Australian counterparts 30-10.
Barrett, brother of All Black Beauden, scored one of the side's four tries and added 10 points with the boot in the opening Test on the Gold Coast.
Hawke's Bay wing Mason Emerson grabbed two tries while Tasman lock Quinten Strange also crossed.
The second match is on Saturday on the Gold Coast.
