One of the most powerful figures in boxing, Top Rank boxing CEO Bob Arum, says his fighter Andy Ruiz will face Joseph Parker for the WBO belt in January.
In an exclusive interview with Radio Live Sunday Sport, Arum said he has spoken with the President of the World Boxing Organization and is confident that current champion Tyson Fury will be stripped of his belt following his positive test for Cocaine, opening the pathway for Parker as the current number one contender.
"I've talked to Dean Lonergan, we are a little apart on the money but we are going to close that gap and make a deal," said Arum
"The deal isn't done, but it will be done.
"I'm sure we will come to a conclusion on Tuesday (NZT)."
The fight was raised by Parker's team as an alternative to taking his mandatory shot at Britain's Anthony Joshua's IBF crown.
