The All Whites have drawn 1-1 with the USA after pushing the 22nd ranked team in the world in front of a rowdy Washington DC crowd.

In a match the All Whites probably should have won, such was their domination, the front four looked dangerous while Reid and the rest of his defenders were solid if not spectacular.

The away side spent the first quarter almost exclusively in the US half with Chris Wood leading the charge with his strength and poise on the ball a huge factor.

In a rare expedition outside their half, the US relied on their Bayern Munich forward Julian Green to ignite their attacking prowess, which he did so with a 27th minute strike that deflected off an All Whites defender.

Not disheartened by the opportunistic goal from the home team, the All Whites did well enough to defend against America's speed in the wider channels for the rest of the half, going into half-time 1-0 down.

Spurred on by the positives shown in the first half, the All Whites were undoubtedly the better team in the second with the US holding on until 19-year-old Monty Patterson found a way through after the US failed to clear their lines.

The All Whites arguably deserved another one through Patterson again however the US held on for the draw.

They will now look ahead to their November World Cup qualifiers against New Caledonia and March qualifiers against Fiji.
