The race to the Aussie NBL finals is heating up, with "the back in form" Breakers still needing other results to go their way if they're to stay in fourth place.

But they're confident they can win their final two games, and they intend on having a good time doing it.

The Breakers' season may be on the line, but there's no sign the pressure's getting to the players.

Instead they're pumped up and ready to have some fun.

That approach is thanks to three good wins on the trot.

"Obviously winning is the best thing to give you confidence and stringing a few together is been fantastic for us," says swingman Tom Abercrombie. "[There's a] pretty exciting week coming up -- this is the fun time of year and we've got a couple of really fun games coming up, so everyone's looking forward to it."

Both of those "fun" games are against league leaders Melbourne United -- a team they've played twice this season, with a win and a loss.

Their big challenge will be defending against Melbourne's three-point shooting.

"So far we've done the best in the league of any team who've played them, so we know that they've got so many threats on the perimeter, you have to give something up," says coach Dean Vickerman. "Hopefully we can be as good as we have been in the first two games."

After Sunday's win over the Cairns Taipans, the Breakers sit in that all-important fourth place.

But win or lose their remaining two games, ultimately it will depend on other results going their way if they're to have any chance of defending their title.

"As a management staff we have to prepare for everything, every scenario," says Vickerman. "But as this playing group right here, the only thing they can focus on is win on Friday."

And then again on Sunday, after which it's hoped the real fun will begin.
