All Whites coach Anthony Hudson has named his 23-man squad for the OFC Nations Cup with Chris Wood as captain.

Hudson's squad sees the return of experienced players Rory Fallon, Shane Smeltz, Michael McGlinchey and Kosta Barbarouses, however there is no Winston Reid, Tommy Smith or the injured Ryan Thomas.

Hudson admitted that Reid and Smith's decisions are very different, and admitted that the Ipswich defender won't be considered for selection again.

"Winston has had an injury-interrupted season with West Ham and I have decided it is in his and the team's best interests to get him right for the rest of the year," Hudson said.

"Winston is 100 percent committed to our team. While Tommy has not been able to commit to us again, and as a result I will not be selecting him for the All Whites going forward. It is too disruptive to our preparation."

Hudson believed his side is ready to claim the OFC Nations Cup which will be staged in Port Moresby from May 28 to June 11.

"We feel like we are on the cusp of something special.

"It has been great having this camp and getting everyone together. We have created a young, talented squad over the past 18 months who are ready to make a statement at the Nations Cup and begin their own era as All Whites."

The All Whites travel to Brisbane on Saturday for a training camp where they will play three training games ahead of the OFC Nations Cup.
