New Zealand Rally duo Hayden Paddon and John Kennard are solely focused on building experience in this weekend's World Rally Championship race in Corsica.

Paddon says the team are focused on continually improving their performance on tarmac surfaces, something the Hyundai Driver is not very experienced driving on.

"It's more like a race track, very twisty," said Paddon.

"It's a much more consistent road surface. If it stays dry, it's a nice high grip rally.

"We hope it stays dry so that helps my learning curve that little bit more."

Paddon finished fifth in his last rally in Germany, which was also raced on tarmac but he was not satisfied with his performance and is hoping to continue his learning experience on the surface in France.

"We are not result driven this weekend. The key is to get more experience.

"We need to improve on Germany because that was disappointing.

"We need to try fight for a top five but as I say, the focus is not on the result."

The 'rally of 10,000 corners' is the last rally of 2016 to be raced on the tarmac surface, with the final three races on gravel.

Paddon and Kennard hold equal third place on the drivers and co-drivers’ championship points-tables respectively, matching their Hyundai Motorsport team-mates Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul.

Sebastien Ogier is currently in first on 169 points.

Ogier hopes to continue the French dominance in the WRC as a Frenchman has was the WRC every year since 2001.
