Hurricanes halfback TJ Perenara hasn’t prepared any differently for tonight’s blockbuster clash with the Highlanders.

The World Cup winner believes it would be a mistake to get up for one opposition but not another.

“If you try and save yourself each week because I am playing so and so this week and I want to be awesome next week, so you pull yourself back, I think that’s limiting yourself.”

Perenara has an unwavering week-to-week philosophy in preparing for games.

“I think you have to be the best you can be every week.” he said.

“If you can push yourself to be better than you were the week before then that’s all you can do.”

The Hurricanes halfback in almost certainly to be included in Sunday’s All Black squad for the three Test series against Wales, and although he acknowledges that he has thought about selection, realises it's important to not look too far ahead.

“I would be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about higher honors.”

“All I can do is worry about the way I play the game and prepare the best I can for the Hurricanes. If you worry about what happens a week, two weeks down the track it’s not doing any good for you”
