Anthony Joshua’s manager Eddie Hearn wants to bring Joseph Parker to the UK to fight before his IBF mandatory challenge kicks in this November.

Hearn would like Parker to get exposure with the UK fight fans to help build his profile ahead of a potential early 2017 fight with the current IBF champion.

“We are definitely going to fight Parker at some time, so why not get him on the card and get him some more exposure and profile to the UK fans.” Hearn said.

There is a possibility that Joshua will not defend his belt against Parker in the mandatory period between November and January. If the Brit is successful in his next title defense against American Dominic Breazeale in June, then he may decide to look towards a unification bout with the winner of the Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko fight.

A unification fight will take precedence over a mandatory title shot, thus Parker may have to wait a little longer to get his chance to become a World Champion.

“The mandatory fight will get called on November 20th, and after that we will have the option to either fight Joseph Parker or fight a unification fight.”

Despite some skepticism in both New Zealand and abroad, Hearn was very impressed with Parker’s performance against Carlos Takam last Saturday night.

“People watched the fight and weren’t sure how good he is, but he just beat Carlos Takam who is a good fighter. For someone who’s not a novice, but a relatively inexperienced fighter, that was a good win.”

Joseph Parker and his management team Duco, announced on Tuesday that his next fight will be against Solomon Haumono in Christchurch in July.

A loss would see Parker lose his mandatory status.
