2009 US Open winner Juan Martin Del Potro will play the ASB Classic in Auckland in January as he looks to build momentum ahead of his first Australian Open since 2014. Del Potro is an addition to a star-studded tournament line-up that includes top 20 players Roberto Bautista Agut, John Isner, David Ferrer and Jack Sock. It's been a big year for Del Potro who's returned from injury, racked up victories against Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal and just this week, led Argentina to their first ever Davis Cup. Despite previously being ranked inside the top 10, the Argentinian will arrive in Auckland unseeded which tournament organizer Karl Budge says is a fascinating factor of the tournament. "Juan Martin is the man of the moment and the bookies favourite for the title in Auckland," Budge said.

"The fact he is unseeded and can land anywhere on the draw will be the talking point to see who he plays on Monday or Tuesday."

Del Potro is currently ranked 38 in the world and will be one of the players to watch should he stay fit in 2017.
