New Zealand tennis No.1 Marina Erakovic has prevailed in a two-and-a-half hour marathon over Dutch player Kiki Bertens to advance to the final of the WTA tournament in Morocco.

She lost the first set 6-2 -- before fighting her way back through a tie-breaker in the second set, and closing out the match 7-5 in the third.

The 28-year-old now has to recover for tomorrow's final against top seed and world number 15 Timea Bacsinszky from Switzerland.

Erakovic last made the final of a top tier tournament in Quebec in 2013, but her world ranking slumped to 186 while she battled injuries and erratic form.

She has now won seven matches on the clay surface at Rabat, including three qualifying matches to get into the main draw.
