Lydia Ko has made a blemish free start to the LPGA Classic in Ontario, Canada.

The world No.1 hit two birdies in her round of 70 that sees her sitting tied for 32nd.

The New Zealander missed a number of mid-length putts for birdie which prevented her making better headway at Whistle Bear Golf Club.

The 19-year-old is tied with in-form Thai golfer Ariya Jutanugarn who is ranked number two in the world.

Jutanugarn, 20, will need another two or three tournament wins to put Ko's 45-week reign at the top under threat.

Spanish golfer Belen Mozo held the lead until a triple bogey on the final hole saw her plummet back down the leaderboard.

South Korea's Chella Choi stands alone at the top after hitting six under in her opening round.
