No doubts for Kiwi golfer Ryan Fox that the return of the sport to the Olympics will be a success, despite the field being deprived of the top men's players.

Fox, who has been selected alongside Danny Lee and Lydia Ko for Rio, has no concerns that the event will suffer, despite major withdrawals including Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy Jason Day and Adam Scott.

"The golf tournament will be awesome," said Fox

"It may be a little bit of an unknown at this point with a new golf course and maybe not as strong a field as they had hoped, but I'm sure it will be run well and be a great event."

The son of All Black selector Grant Fox, is incredibly excited to be part of the New Zealand team for the games which kick off August 7th (NZT).

"For me the experience is being part of the Olympic village and being in a high performance environment and being part of a team again, which we certainly don't get in golf very often and that's the really exciting part about it."

The men's tournament tee's off on August 13th with the women's field set to start on the 17th.
