The Oklahoma City Thunder have fallen short to the Houston Rockets 102-99 despite a record-breaking night for Russell Westbrook and kiwi big man Steven Adams.

Westbrook equalled Michael Jordan and Oscar Robertson's record of seven straight triple-doubles while Adams finished with a career-high 24 points.

Despite the records, the pair ultimately struggled to lift the Thunder above a dogged Rockets team led by attacking force James Harden.

The Rockets led the entire match as their field shooting and isolation of the home team's main weapons proved the difference.

As has been often the case this season, Westbrook and Adams struggled to find support from the rest of the side on attack.

The loss snaps the Thunder's six-game winning streak with the team sixth in the Western Conference

They'll look to bounce back on Monday (NZ time) when they host the Boston Celtics who are flying in fourth in the Eastern Conference.
