The Phoenix could potentially play four games outside of their Westpac Stadium home in Wellington as they look to build the club's national presence.

Auckland will get two matches, while two other A-League fixtures could be taken to other major cities.

Wellington played two of their 13 home games out of the capital last year in Auckland (Albany's QBE Stadium) and Christchurch.

The Phoenix had an average attendance of 8,042 last season, and David Dome is well aware that crowds will need to steadily improve as part of the club's 10-year licence extension.

"We'll be playing two games in Auckland this year and potentially two games in other centres outside Auckland," Dome told FourFourTwo.

"We're just working on that now and trying to tidy it up. That's been a strategy of the club to take it on the road and go around the country and build the profile."

The Phoenix have already confirmed a September pre-season game in Nelson against the Central Coast Mariners.
