Brian Minto came out firing and defeated a bloodied Shane Cameron who has been left to consider his future in boxing. Cameron's corner did not let him come out for the eight round of their fight after the skin above his left eye was split open by Minto.
Elsewhere the Wellington Phoenix were beaten 2-1 by the Brisbane Roar, despite looking the better side for the majority of the 90 minutes. The Phoenix remain winless in their nine games this season, but coach Ernie Merrick hasn't ruled out his sides playoff chances if they can start scoring goals.
The Breakers are another New Zealand side currently in a slump of form, dropping a game at Vector Arena to the league leading Perth Wildcats.
The Black Caps did however give Kiwi sport fans something to cheer about in the past week. Despite losing the toss and batting first on a green pitch, the Black Caps cleaned up the West Indies in three days in the second test match in Wellington.
