Ross Taylor's captaincy appears to be under scrutiny at New Zealand Cricket headquarters this week before the BlackCaps team is named for the daunting tour to South Africa.

There are reports of an uncomfortable relationship with BlackCaps' head coach Mike Hesson, before they turned around a terrible run of results to trump Sri Lanka in the second test last week.

Taylor was asked to step down by Hesson prior to the Sri Lankan series, according to the Dominion Post.

It’s understood that that Taylor has lost the support of senior players which could lead to Brendon McCullum taking over the captaincy of the BlackCaps.
