Former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw has announced his engagement to Black Sticks player Gemma Flynn.
McCaw took to his Facebook page to confirm the news, including two photos with his post.
"Happy new year to everyone. I've had a fantastic start to 2016 and feel very lucky. Gemma said 'yes'! It's been great celebrating our engagement with friends and family in sunny central Otago," the post read.
"Here's to a great year ahead."
While McCaw has retired from the sporting scene, his new fiancé will be hoping to bring home a gold medal at the Rio Olympics this year.
Flynn recently returned from Argentina with her Black Sticks teammates, taking home a silver medal at the World League Final tournament.
