Russian feet speed cubing champs kick off

The Russians may recently have had seven swimmers kicked out of the Olympics - but they're leading the world in the little-known discipline of feet speed cubing.

We can't verify whether all competitors at the international championship in Chelyabinsk were drug-free, but apparently it's a fantastic workout for your abs.

Speed cubing involves solving a variety of twisty puzzles, most commonly the Rubik's Cube, as quickly as possible - and as the name suggests, it's done with a person's feet.

The Ural Open competition runs until July 27. Twenty-seven people entered - 10 first-timers and 17 veterans.

The United States Speed Cubing Championships are the next to be held, taking place from July 29 to 31 in Portland Oregon.

It is not known if it includes a feet speed cubing sub-category.
