Team NZ told to stay away from America's Cup meeting

Oracle Team USA have reportedly told Team New Zealand to stay away from a meeting with potential challengers of the America's Cup.

Team New Zealand were left out of a joint statement issued by Luna Rossa, Artemis Racing, Ben Ainslie Racing and a challenger from France which firmed their support for the event to go ahead - despite the current lack of a venue.

The move by Team New Zealand angered head of the America's Cup Event Authority and former Oracle boss Sir Russell Coutts, who told the Associated Press he told Grant Dalton's team they shouldn't come.

Coutts will attend the meeting in London hoping "to further define an event based on the published protocol".

There is no doubt that Team New Zealand want to enter the competition after their heart-breaking loss in 2013, having already said they are confident of meeting the US$1m entry fee head of the August 8 deadline.
