Garrett McNamara has ridden a wave estimated to be a 30 metre wave - beating his own previous record of 24 metre off the rugged coast of Portugal.
Going 100 kilometres an hour in what was a 30 second ride, it's now being verified by scientists to see if it stacks up as a world record.
McNamara says he could feel his whole brain and body rattle.
