Video highlights: England beat Australia 44-40 in third Test

England have downed a fighting Australia side 44-40 to whitewash the hosts in the three-Test series.

It is the first time since 1971 that the Wallabies have lost the first three games of their season.

Prop Dan Cole charged over to give England the lead after 10 minutes, but Bernard Foley was quick to reply with a try of his own for Australia.

Wallabies winger Dane Haylett-Petty grabbed his first ever Test try, while Mike Brown responded on the half hour mark with a cracking try as the game went back and forth.

Foley would kick a penalty on the stroke of halftime to grab a 18-17 lead, but England's Billy Vunipola scored off the back of a scrum three minutes into the second half to catch the Wallabies napping.

Tries to Michael Hooper and Israel Folau gave the Wallabies a chance, but Owen Farrell punished poor discipline with the boot.

Jamie George's late try dashed the hosts' hopes as England complete the 3-0 series win.

England's 44 points are the most they have scored in a game against Australia.
