Julian Savea has been named to start on the left wing for this weekend's Bledisloe cup match against Australia after Waisake Naholo was ruled out due to a hamstring injury.

It has been a tough year for Savea who has faced his fair share of criticism.

The 44-Test All Black admitted it can be annoying not getting much playing time.

"It definitely can get a bit frustrating, but you have to take it on the chin and work hard to get out there.

"I have been training hard with the team and have been really focused on playing rugby.

"I think it's very hard sometimes, not playing for a few weeks then getting the opportunity to play and trying too hard to impress whoever."

Savea came off the bench in the first Bledisloe cup test, scoring a try and running 50 metres.
