World Boxing Organization vice president John Duggan believes the best way to fight for the vacant WBO Heavyweight is for a four-way box-off; however, there are plenty of possible options on the table.

Speaking to Andrew Gourdie and James McOnie on RadioLIVE Sunday Sport, Duggan said he was keen for a box-off as the best and fairest way to find a new champion.

"If there is a box-off, all four competitors have to be among the top contenders and have to agree to fight an eliminator for the opportunity to fight for the championship" said Duggan.

"This will be an import subject at the next WBO convention."

"I personally think that is the fairest and most efficacious way."

"The boxing public would prefer a box-off to determine the championship"

Duggan also believes it is great Joseph Parker and Andy Ruiz are close to securing a possible title match in the coming months.

"We are hopeful that Joseph Parker and Andy Ruiz get to fight for a WBO championship. Both are worthy.

"If you asked my opinion, I believe that should be an eliminator for the box-off if both are willing to take the second step and commit to fight the winner of the other box-off"

But Duggan isn't ruling out the option of IBF champion Anthony Joshua and former WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko fighting for the vacant title if they can reach a deal to fight.

"I would say that would be a subject of discussion" said Dugan.

"We would certainly listen to anything they have to say about their intention and their objective.

"I think we have to listen to all parties in order to get clarity to get a resolution"

Members of the WBO and managers will be meeting in Puerto Rico in the coming days to discuss what to do with the vacant world title, which Tyson Fury voluntary vacated following a tumultuous few weeks during which he both tested positive for, and admitted to, use of cocaine, in an effort to focus on his rehabilitation.
