Minutes after re-election, US president Barack Obama sent his most popular tweet of all time.
Obama, who has more than 22 million Twitter followers worldwide, sent just three words: “Four more years”.
The tweet also included a picture of him hugging his wife Michelle.
Obama is the fifth most followed user on Twitter, with pop queen Lady Gaga holding number one spot.
The US election itself also broke records on Twitter. According to the site’s Government and Politics team, more than 20 million tweets were sent about ‘Election Day’, making it the most tweeted about event in US political history.
