Former New Zealand cricketer Chris Cairns has received a payment for damages from the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

The payout, estimated to be up to $20,000, was for a mistake the MCC made in a video it posted to YouTube.

The video was the MCC's annual Spirit of Cricket lecture delivered by former Blackcaps captain Brendon McCullum, who gave evidence at Mr Cairns' perjury trial in London last year.

Mr Cairns was found not guilty.

The title of the YouTube video wrongly implied Mr Cairns had been involved in match fixing and was online for eleven hours last month before being taken down by the MCC.

Mr Cairns had been living in New Zealand and working as a cricket commentator, but now lives in Canberra , where an events and marketing company he ran with his wife went into liquidation in 2013.
