The head of the FBI says the agency hasn't found any evidence of criminal wrongdoing in its latest investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails.

FBI Director James Comey caused controversy 11 days out from the US presidential election when he revealed the FBI was again looking into Ms Clinton's use of a private email server.

The investigation was sparked when the FBI found new emails during its investigation of Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Nearly all the emails found on Mr Weiner's laptop were duplicates of emails the FBI already reviewed, NBC has reported.

Mr Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway has lashed out at the Democrats in an MSNBC interview, saying: "I find it ironic the Democrats jumped all over Jim Comey."

Mr Comey had mishandled the investigation from the beginning, she added.

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has accused the FBI boss of caving to pressure. "Comey must be under enormous political pressure to cave like this and announce something he cant possibly know," he wrote on Twitter.
