Iran nuclear talks extend past deadline

Negotiators have pushed past their original deadline in Switzerland as they hope to agree a nuclear deal with Iran.

Western leaders are tackling the big issues but agree there is a "broad framework of understanding".

US negotiators say enough progress has been made to extend talks over Iran's nuclear program. The UK's top negotiator says discussions may continue another 24 to 48 hours.

"But it does mean the Iranians being willing to meet us where there are still issues that we need to deal with," says Philip Hammond, UK Foreign Secretary.

The sticking points include how much nuclear fuel Iran will be allowed to produce in the future and how to verify that fuel is for peaceful purposes only. Negotiators also need to decide when economic sanctions are lifted.
