A cuddly koala cub who clung to his mother during life-saving surgery is on the mend at Queensland's Australia Zoo.
The mother, Lizzy, received surgery for a collapsed lung after a crash on a major highway.
Australia Zoo told the Courier Mail the mother and her child, known as Phantom, were recovering well considering the circumstances.
"[The mother has] been given antibiotics and is improving every day in the hospital," they said. "Phantom is putting on weight as well which is a great sign for the health of both mother and baby."
The pair will be returned to the wild soon, and donations can be sent to Australia Zoo through Wildlife Warriors.
